When Gabe had the opportunity to become Branch Manager of HomeLoan Financial in 2007, he made a commitment to help military personnel & Veterans learn more about their VA Loan benefits – thus, HawaiiVALoans.com was launched. Today HawaiiVALoans.com and the VA Loan Blog which he co-authors, serves as the premier source of VA Loan information for the State of Hawaii.

Gabe is a graduate of St. Louis School in Honolulu Hawaii and obtained his Bachelors of Science in Business Management at Menlo College in Atherton California. On Gabe’s free time he tries to stay in shape by doing Crossfit and enjoys spending quality time with his awesome family.

Interesting Fact about Gabe:
Before entering the mortgage business, Gabe played professional football in the Arena Football League and also played for the Hawaiian Islanders of the Arena 2 League.

He enjoyed working with brokers as a wholesale account executive to fund every type of residential financing imaginable. He has worked as a Loan Officer helping borrowers finance everything from starter homes to dream estates. He also spent time developing and designing mortgage banking software, as well as providing consulting and training for mortgage bankers throughout the country.

His recent experience managing teams of wholesale & retail originators inspired him to this current venture of establishing HomeLoan Financial and HawaiiVALoans.com as a premier mortgage provider in the islands. With the partnership and vision of Gabe Amey, they are well on their way to creating a new style of lender; one which emphasizes education, communication and the use of technology to make the mortgage process simple and understandable for every homeowner.

Jim enjoys playing basketball, softball, coaching various sports and spending time with his 3 kids.

Interesting Fact about Jim:

Jim was the starting pitcher for Punahou’s victory in the 1989 state championship baseball game v. Gabe Amey’s alma matter – St. Louis. He also returned to be an assistant coach at Punahou, working with a number of the kids who moved on to begin the school’s current run of 5 consecutive state baseball titles.

Brenda experienced an extensive medical career in a highly specialized field of radiology prior to moving to the islands in 1994. She excelled in the world of construction and design upon moving to Hawaii, and owned and operated her own construction company as well. Her vast and varied background has instilled in her an extremely high level of discipline and attention to detail. Her diligence for excellence is apparent in all she does. Her repeat customers and referral following is proof of her customer care and attention.

Brenda cherishes time with her family and the joys of being a parent to her son. On her off time she enjoys days on the water, skiing adventures, baseball, and living the Hawaii lifestyle.

In 2010, he graduated with his Master’s in Business Administration from Hawaii Pacific University. He takes pride in learning the details of the ever changing mortgage industry and enjoys providing service, help, and value to everyone he works with.

Tee enjoys living an active lifestyle and likes doing activities such as hiking, golfing, playing basketball, and barbecuing. When not working, he spends his time as the Defensive Backs Coach and Special Teams Coordinator for the Kamehameha Schools-Kapalama Varsity Football Team.

Interesting Fact about Tamotsu:

In his junior year of high school, Tee was a State Science Fair winner and was selected to compete in the International Science and Engineering Fair in Detroit, Michigan.

Carolina is a “Jack of all Trades” at the Hawaii VA Loans office.  She is a Prequalifying Specialist, an Office Manager, as well as an Assistant in facilitating the Hawaii VA Loans’ Veterans Club.  She is also finding that learning and mastering the many nuances of the Home Loan industry is an exciting challenge.

She is passionate about and serving her community and has a deep respect for the servicemen and women of the military (her Grandfather and Father were also Veterans).  Remembering her uncertainties when purchasing her first home, she hopes to make the home buying process a pleasant experience for her customers.

Carolina enjoys swimming, hiking, and stand-up paddling with her Husband, working out at CrossFit Oahu, and is a voracious reader of books.

Interesting fact:

Carolina has made over 15 wedding cakes (mostly for family and friends), and although she has had to take a break from cake making, she hopes to continue her hobby once she is able to afford her dream kitchen.

He is currently pursuing his Master of Business Administration at Hawaii Pacific University and looking forward to putting his degree at Hawaii VA Loans.

On his off time he loves to spend time with his family and two beautiful daughters. His family enjoys the wonderful beaches here in Hawaii as well as snorkeling and scuba diving as a couple hobbies.

After traveling the world in the military and having lived in many states in-conus Brad has decided to make Hawaii his home away from home and looks forward to serving everyone here in Hawaii.

Interesting Fact:

In his spare time he likes to volunteer teaching motorcycle safety with the Motorcycle Safety Foundation at Kaneohe Bay Marine Corps Base Hawaii.

He brings a unique understanding of military life, the challenges, as well as the rewards of wearing a uniform. During the evenings, James can be found at CrossFit Oahu coaching group classes, high school athletes, and personal training individual clients.

To be successful in any industry, James fully understands the necessity of understanding an individual’s needs and abilities. His goal is to not just be another cog in the system, but to be a consultant. James is proud to be a professional in this industry, and loves nothing more than educating his customers on the nuances of the mortgage process. It’s a confusing, scary world, and empowering his customers to make the best financial decisions for themselves is an absolute reward in of itself.

Interesting Fact about James:

Besides his obsession with CrossFit, lifting heavy things in a variety of ways, and swimming in the ocean, James was a cast member and performing actor at Laughtrack Theater Company, Hawaii’s only theater dedicated to long form improv comedy. He has also been known to jump out of perfectly good airplanes.
