Amber Tuairau

VA Loan Coordinator

Amber’s extensive background in the fields of human resources and project management, as well as her well-recognized attention to detail throughout her professional career, make her a valuable asset to the Hawaii VA Loans team as VA Loan Coordinator.

As a Human Resource Specialist, Amber’s naturally outgoing and friendly characteristics helped her to hone her interpersonal skills while conducting interviews of company applicants, hiring, tracking, and scheduling training for new employees. These responsibilities and experiences are invaluable to her position as VA Loan Coordinator where she is the first point of contact in establishing and developing customer relationships with VA home buyers.

Furthermore, Amber’s position as a Project Manager for a security company - a role in which she was in charge of scheduling, payroll, training, and staffing of over 40 employees - is vital to her work with veterans and servicemembers as she helps them navigate and manage the steps to the VA loan home buying process.

Amber’s attention to detail should not go unnoted. In 2012, as a security officer on a Hawaiian Electric contract working in the Security Command Center, she was doing a camera patrol of one of the substations when she witnessed someone stealing copper. Police were called and the suspect was eventually apprehended. As a result of her work, Amber received recognition from the Hawaiian Electric Security Department.

Although, Amber is a bit of a thief herself! As a softball player, she was offered a full scholarship to Midland College in Texas. To this day, she holds the record for the most stolen bases in that region.

Amber went on to earn her Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts from Midland, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Remington College.

In her personal life, Amber enjoys spending time with her family at the beach, teaching sports to their young son, working out, and having date nights with her husband.

An Interesting Fact About Amber: “I'm four years older than my husband and we have two beautiful kids!”
